The Environmental Science-Natural Science major provides students with a solid background in biological, ecological, chemical, and geological principles. With this foundation, and with guidance from a faculty advisor, each student crafts a course of study that meets his or her individual goals.
Environmental Science Majors and the Environmental Sustainability Minor
Environmental Science is concerned with the relationships among humans and the natural environment. Both of our Environmental Science majors, Natural Science and Social Science (links at left) are highly interdisciplinary and allow our students, with assistance and approval of faculty advisors, to design programs of study that meet their strengths, interests, and career goals. Our minor in Environmental Sustainability is designed for students with an interest in learning more about environmental issues, and is available to students in any major.
There is steady demand in industry, government, education, and advocacy organizations for people trained in the environmental sciences. Each of our majors provides a strong background for either immediate employment or advanced study in graduate school.
