Description
The Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health is composed of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Health, Science education majors and courses in Physics. The department offers unique Masters of Science degree in environmental health and in bioinformatics. The faculty members are responsible for teaching science courses for the University and conducting research in their chosen fields of study. Departmental faculty specialty include ecology, cytogenetics, entomology molecular biology toxicology, biosynthesis, analytical chemistry and bio-environmental assessment.

The primary objectives of the Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health are to:

Develop students who are well prepared for their chosen careers and in the fulfillment of life endeavors in a modern society, Provide opportunities for all students of the University to become proficient in concepts and principles of natural sciences and environmental health, Offer baccalaureate and master’s degree curricula in natural sciences, environmental health and bioinformatics, Prepare students for prospective advanced study in bio-medical sciences, Prepare students who are interested in admission to schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, medical technology, physical therapy, and other allied health service professions, Train students for careers in the biology, bioinformatics, ecology and conservation of natural resources areas, Prepare and train students for employment in public health, occupational safety fields, and in environmental monitoring, regulation, or protection fields, and Develop teaching skills in students interested in teaching biology in secondary schools.
