Double Majoring in IES
All of the IES majors have a common set of foundational courses (accounting for 35-36 credit hours); the specific major/track is determined by completing at least fifteen credit hours of “additional major requirements” specific to that track. A student who wishes to major in two tracks in IES must complete the common courses required for all majors (including the additional society/ethics/justice course); all of which will count toward both majors that they pursue. However, a student cannot use the same course from the “additional major requirements” section to count for more than one major, that is to say a student may not “double-dip” courses in the “additional requirements” section. The effect of this recommendation is to require students to complete at least fifteen additional hours of course work to earn a second major within IES.
