Alabama A&M University - Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences
4900 Meridian Street North
Normal, AL 35762
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences offers academic programs that are dynamic and prepare students for a variety of careers in health care, food, natural resources, and agriculture, in basic and applied biosciences, and environmental sciences that lead to careers in research, industry, teaching, and public service professions. Biology alone and in combination with the natural and environmental sciences, is the gateway to many exciting educational and employment opportunities in the industry.
Our students at AAMU learn and practice science through our interactive class lectures, laboratory exercises and projects, field trips, pre-professional internships, and summer research experiences. We offer over 25 specialized research laboratories and three outdoor research stations and forest sites where agricultural, environmental, forestry and wildlife research is undertaken by our students and faculty members.
Our Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the following:
• Environmental Science
• Plant Biotechnology (spring 2016)
• Biology (thesis and non-thesis degree options)
• Plant and Soil Science (thesis and non-thesis degree options)
Each degree program has the option of additional specializations and tracks. Undergraduate students are encouraged to specialize further by choosing a concentration or track within each of the four degree programs, under the advisement of their undergraduate mentor.
